Description
- This detailed piece features Norse drake ornamental patterns carved into the plywood with Jormungandr its highlight icon. In Norse mythology, Jörmungandr is the Midgard Serpent viewed as the ultimate symbol of fate's inevitability. Viking warriors would demonstrate with this icon their will to go to battle and accept whatever fate the gods had in store for them.
- The shield is made out of 15mm thick birch wood and finished with a wood-burning technique, as well as staining and varnishing with linen seed oil. It is consolidated with steel bolts and a hand-hammered umbo. Finally, it comes with a plywood handlebar installed on the back.
- The shield can be used as a decorative wall hanger or as a functional piece for medieval reenactment or LARP.
